Danika Surm is a Lamaze Certified Childbirth instructor, Breastfeeding Educator, and former doula. Danika is passionate about midwifery care, although she has currently suspended her midwifery training in order to be the stay-at-home parent of her two young children. At present, she is actively teaching both prenatal and newborn care classes. Danika is dedicated to supporting birthing families across the spectrum and has done so in a variety of ways during her 7-years in the 'birth world'. She has worked as a doula supporting birthing parents living with addiction, has worked with new immigrants, and has worked and studied in rural birth settings. Her particular passion is in understanding how individuals assess risk - how they access and interpret evidence, what lived experiences they bring into their decision-making, and what motivates and/or limits their ultimate choices. She feels called to be an Evidence Based Birth Instructor to further this desire to allow decision-making to be, truly, in the hands of the birthing individual and family.
