Nicole Mortenson is a Doula and Placenta Encapsulation Specialist who attended her first birth in 2011. She graduated from WSU with a BA in Human Development with a focus in Family Studies and a BA in Spanish Language and Cultures. After college she served in the Peace Corps in Guatemala from 2014-2016 in the Maternal and Child Health field. She took her Doula training at Bastyr in 2017. She is also an Evidence Based Birth® Instructor. She is trained in Rebozo, Tens Unit Training, Breastfeeding for Doulas, Bloodborne Pathogens & Infection Control for Placenta Encapsulators, Doula Support for Survivors of Sexual Assault, Spinning Babies and BITS Birthworker Inclusivity Training Series which covered sexual pleasure in the childbearing year, LGBTQ+ Sensitivity, Consent, and more. In 2017, she had the honor to serve as an assistant to Penny Simkin for a Homebirth Class. She plans to continue her education to become a Certified Nurse Midwife. She runs a small business called Panakeia Doulas.
