Quyen Thao Nguyen is a registered midwife, midwife lecturer at University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam, currently doing her PhD in Taiwan. 4 years being an undergraduate midwife student aroused her passionate enthusiasm for midwifery profession. After completing her Master’s in Thailand, Quyen came back to Vietnam, continuing developing her career with passion, being committed to the teaching and research in midwifery field. Quyen was trained in clinical teaching from Distance Education Learning Program by Queensland University of Technology, and in 2019 passed the training course from Evidence Based Birth® on how to help families get evidence-based care to become an Evidence Based Birth® Instructor. She has experience working in delivery room for 6 years. Quyen also has certain publications in Journal of HOSREM (Ho Chi Minh City Society for Reproductive Medicine) and VINAGOFPA (Vietnam Gynecology and Obstetrics Association). Quyen always tries to get herself involved in exploring new knowledge whenever she has chance to do it, whether it is professional conference or community volunteering, such as translators for obstetric team on the Military Sealift Command hospital ship USNS Mercy in 2018. Quyen does not see midwifery purely as a job. She goes to work every day because she wants to learn and help. Taking care of the mothers and babies as well as sharing the knowledge to students brings her overwhelming joy. Quyen’s lifelong dream is developing midwifery in Vietnam because she strongly believes that midwives play a vital role in the improvement of maternal and neonatal health.
