Heather is CAPPA Faculty & Certified for 3 programs: Labor Doula, Postpartum Doula & Lactation Educator.

In 2018 she also became a Spinning Babies® Aware Practitioner & Parent Educator. She's also been a Certified Hypnobabies® Instructor for more than 10 years, Birthing From Within® Mentor, as well as an Evidence Based Birth® Instructor and Professional Member.

Heather is also a student of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine, and is a Certified in Acupressure for Pregnancy, Birth and Postpartum. Heather has taken advanced trainings from Evidence Based Birth® on due dates, newborn procedures, and birth settings. As an educator and midwife for nearly 25 years, she regularly presents to both expecting parents and professionals on current childbirth research. She has also completed a course from Evidence Based Birth® on how to effectively teach continuing education courses to professionals. A passionate, experienced, and innovative birth provider for over 25 years, Heather began this work when she was 19. Initially going to pre-med to become an OB-Gyn, she was re-directed to Midwifery and became a Certified Professional Midwife. Heather practiced midwifery in Portland, Oregon at the wonderful Andaluz Waterbirth Center. After moving back to the midwest, Heather settled in Chicago, Illinois. As of this writing, Illinois does not offer a license for CPMs. She therefore works as a Doula, Monitrice, and Childbirth Educator. As co-owner of 312Doulas, she has a thriving labor support business Chicagoland, while teaching classes and in-services for families, doulas, and educators.
